Printed plug information
The BLASTBALL™ is a reinforced blasthole plug engineered for underground development and production drilling, creating a reliable seal that helps crews block breakthroughs, control explosive gases, and maintain consistent column pressure. Built with a hermetic bladder, patented valve system, and tire-strength webbing, this advanced drill hole plug grips securely inside wet or variable boreholes for dependable retention. By preventing pressure loss and directing more explosive energy into the rock, the BLASTBALL™ enhances fragmentation and boosts safety, giving underground teams a durable, repeatable plugging solution that outperforms basic rubber or foam blast hole plug alternatives.

Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ's - BLASTBALL™
Is the BLASTBALL™ easy to deploy underground?
Yes. Its patented valve system provides fast, reliable inflation, and the printed sizing makes it easy for crews to identify and place the correct plug quickly.
Will explosives degrade this plug over time?
No. Explosives don’t break the plug down. The BLASTBALL™ is built with a sealed bladder and reinforced outer webbing, so it holds up well in standard blasting conditions. It’s made to handle pressure, heat, cold, and fumes without slowly wearing out from the explosives themselves. BLASTBALLS™ have been used for sleeping shots for up to a month, sometimes longer.
Does the BLASTBALL™ help improve underground safety?
Absolutely. A secure blast hole plug creates better retention, keeping energy confined in the column, reducing airblast and it ensures more predictable blasting performance across demanding underground environments.
What underground applications is this blasthole plug best suited for?
It is ideal for production drilling, blocking cracks and voids, uphole retention, energy control setups, and air-decking configurations in small-diameter holes. It's primary use is plugging cracks/voids, but more specifically used in long-hole stoping to plug breakthroughs in downholes and the collars of upholes.
Does the BLASTBALL™ work in wet or variable ground conditions?
Yes. Its textured exterior grips the borehole wall securely, helping it stay in place even in wet, fractured, or inconsistent ground. With the weighted coupling,, the BLASTBALL™ can be lowered through water, then inflated at designed depth.
How does this blast hole plug improve fragmentation?
By preventing pressure loss and sealing the drill hole properly, the BLASTBALL™ directs more explosive energy into the rock, improving fragmentation and reducing wasted explosives.
What makes the BLASTBALL™ different from standard blasthole plugs?
Unlike basic rubber or foam options, the BLASTBALL™ uses a hermetic bladder, tire-strength webbing, and a reinforced body to deliver reliable sealing performance in tough underground conditions. BLASTBALL™ is inflated with an external air source, giving you the option to lower it to depth, and then inflate it. Other plugs are typically initiated at the collar, making it more difficult to lower them very deep into the the borehole.
